YVES-ROSE JEROME STEWART
Track and Field, 1993-96
Inducted 2014

Yves-Rose Jerome Stewart was a star sprinter for the Bears of coaches Jeff Berryessa and Ron Boyce for four seasons, and Jerome won all-Missouri Valley Conference honors in league indoor championship meets three times and captured all-league laurels four times in the MVC outdoor championships. She was a seven-time MVC championship event winner and was named to the Valley All-Centennial team in 2007. Jerome qualified for the NCAA indoor national meet three times and the NCAA outdoor meet four times. Jerome set school records in the 55 and 200-meter dashes indoors and the 100 and 200-meter dashes outdoors, as well as running on a pair of record-setting relay teams. She still shares the MSU outdoor record at 200 meters at 23.34 seconds, set in 1996. She captured Valley championships in all four of her individual events in the league indoor and outdoor meets her senior season. Indoors, she swept the 55-meter dash at 6.92 seconds and the 200 at 24.39 seconds. Outdoors, she won the 100 at 11.35 seconds and the 200 in her school record time of 23.34, while leading off the winning 400-meter relay team at 45.06 seconds. A native of Chicago, Ill., where she won city, section and state honors as a sprinter for three seasons at Mother McAuley High and one year at South Shore High, Jerome reached the semifinals of the 100-meter dash in the NCAA outdoor championship in 1996. The Bears' highest MVC finish in Jerome's four seasons at Missouri State was a third place indoors in 1993. MSU was fourth in the MVC indoor event and fifth in the conference outdoor championship her senior season. Jerome, who has won national sales awards, works in direct sales for an oil and gas company in Houston, Texas, and she and her husband are starting Quad Sports, an age group sports program for youths ages 4 to 16.
