Sally Hinton is one of just eight players in Missouri Valley Conference women's golf history to earn all-conference honors four years in a row in her MSU career from 2003 to 2007. A native of Bridgnorth Shropshire, England, Hinton was the Valley Player of the Year as a senior. She was also a three-time MVC scholar-athlete selection and owns the MSU women's golf single season and career records for low stroke average. She averaged 75.65 strokes a round as a senior and her four -year average was 76.75 strokes. As a freshman, Hinton quickly established herself as one of the top players in the MVC, placing in the top 15 individuals in her first three tournaments. She finished fourth in the 2004 conference championship. In her senior year, Hinton recorded an astounding nine top-10 finishes in the 11 tournaments she played, and never finished worse than 16th in tourney individual shooting. She also recorded nine of 11 top-10's as a sophomore and, for her career, notched 29 top-10's in 43 tournaments. Her sustained excellence on the links for Bears' coach Kevin Kane netted Hinton MVC Player of the Week honors seven times during her four seasons at Missouri State; seventh best total in MVC women's golf history. She was also selected to the MVC all-Centennial team in 2007. She was individual medalist in both the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational and the University of Nebraska Chip-N-Club Invitational in 2006. Hinton led the Valley in scoring average as a sophomore and finished third in the league shooting her junior season and second in MVC scoring g as a senior. She is currently a Professional Golfers Association teaching professional at Close House Golf Resort in Newcastle upon Tyne, a large community in northeast England.
