PAULA LEWIS
Golf, 1989-92
Inducted February 12, 2005

Paula Lewis was a three-year regular for the Missouri State women's golf team and saw her numbers improve throughout the time she played for the Bears. A product of Eisenhower High in Lawton, Oklahoma, where she was the medalist in her high school conference tournament as a senior, Lewis played for coach Gayle Runke at Missouri State. Lewis competed in 20 rounds for MSU during the 1989-90 season and had a number of top finishes. Her best individual overall showing was a tie for fifth place in the medalist competition at the Purdue University Tournament. In 1990-91, she played in 24 rounds for MSU and helped lead the Bears to a team title at the Missouri-Kansas City Tournament. In that meet, she and teammate Martha Forslund tied for fourth individually and the best placing for Lewis during the year was a tie for third at the Bradley University meet. In her senior season, Lewis was second on the squad in stroke average during the fall season. She finished the year first in scoring among the season-long regular, continuing the shooting improvement she had throughout her playing time at MSU. Lewis shot in the 70s six times in 23 rounds her last year with the Bears. She was the leading MSU shooter in the Holiday Hills Spring Classic and was fourth overall individually. She was the low MSU scorer in the MSU Spring Invitational, and tied for third overall. She led the Bears at the Purdue meet and was ninth overall, and was the MSU leader in the Gateway meet, again finishing ninth. Overall, MSU was second in the Holiday Hills event, third in the MSU Invitational, won the UMKC Classic and finished fourth in the league. Lewis was selected the top golfer when MSU women's sports completed all-decade teams in 1992.
