Inducted 2015

Diedre Shores was a four-year starting infielder for coach Holly Hesse's softball Bears. A native of Hannibal, Mo., Shores was a two-time all-MVC first team selection, three-time MVC all-tournament selection, and played on three straight NCAA tournament teams as the Bears claimed conference tourney titles and advanced to regional tournament play each of her last three years. Shores saw action at first base, second base and third base and had some pitching assignments along the way as well in her 212 career games for Missouri State. She finished ninth among MVC batting leaders as she hit .365 as a sophomore as the Bears posted a 34-22 season record, batted .332 when she was a junior in a 35-26 Missouri State campaign, and hit .347 in her senior season when the Bears were 31-22. The Bears' 1998 regional tourney trip to Stillwater, Okla., included a 5-2 first round upset win over top-seeded and ninth-ranked Stanford. Shores led the Bears in homers and runs batted in as a junior. She set MSU single season records in doubles (18) and at bats (193) as a junior and also led the team in runs, runs batted in and total bases. She paced the ballclub in at bats, runs, hits, triples, total bases and hitting as a senior. Her lone homer as a senior gave the Bears a walkoff win over Illinois State at home. Shores closed the campaign with a rush as she batted .447 (46/103) after April 1. She finished her playing days as the Bears' career leader in doubles (43), total bases (283), slugging percentage (.473), and walks (78). She finished second in career runs (116) and at-bats (598), was third in batting (.338), runs batted in (96) and assists (319), and fifth in stolen bases (39). Shores also set a school career record for games played which has since been eclipsed. Shores lives in Tampa, Fla., and owns and operates a massage therapy business.
