A native of McKeesport, Pa., Cheryl Diamond burst onto the Missouri State gymnastics scene as a freshman during the 1973-74 season. She captured the AIAW Regional All-Around title and was named the team's Most Valuable Athlete, the first of four MVP's she was to earn at MSU. Diamond was a national champion on the uneven bars in 1976 and 1977. She was the high point athlete for MSU all four seasons she was in Springfield.
