TINA NOELKE
Volleyball, 1990-93
Inducted February 7, 2004

Tina Noelke was one of the top players during an outstanding era in Missouri State volleyball history. She was an outside hitter on MSU teams which reached the NCAA volleyball tournament in 1990 and 1993 and she helped lead the Bears of coach Linda Dollar to an 87-40 match record over four seasons. A native of Washington, Missouri, Noelke was the MSU Player of the Year and won the MVC Tournament MVP award the same season as she sparked MSU to 3-0 conference tourney wins over both Wichita State and Northern Iowa. She was an honorable mention all-MVC pick in 1992 and a second team selection in 1993. She was an MVC scholar-athlete selection as both a junior and senior. Her 412 digs in 1993 still rank eighth in MSU history for a single-season and her 1,293 career digs rank fourth on the all-time list. In her four years, Noelke averaged 3.23 digs per game which is the second best career average in school history. And, with 985 kills, she just missed becoming the fourth person in MSU history with 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills for a career. MSU finished second to UNI in the 1990 league race, then shared the regular season crown with UNI in 1991 and with Illinois State in both 1992 and 1993. MSU beat UNI for the league tourney title in 1990 and advanced to an NCAA tournament match at Hawaii. MSU returned to postseason play when Noelke was a junior and finished with a 2-2 record in the National Invitational Volleyball Tournament. After its league tourney win in 1993, MSU got its first-ever opportunity to host an NCAA tourney match and the Bears met Illinois in the first round of the national meet in Hammons Student Center.
