Bears Sweep Little Rock in Home Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State hit a season-high .312 and did not allow a service ace to visiting Little Rock Thursday evening in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 26-24) victory over Little Rock in the 2026 home opener at Hammons Student Center.
Junior Rilynn Finley led the offense with 14 kills on .464 hitting in the first match of this year's Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational, Hannah Gardner had eight kills and 18 assists, and Chloe Judd hit .500 with six kills.
The first set was tied 13 times with six lead changes, the last during a 3-0 Mo State (2-2) run comprised of a Finley kill, Gardner block and Kya Johnson ace for a 19-17 lead. The Bears then added a 5-0 run to earn set point before Hannah Redrow sealed it with a kill.
Mo State jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the second period and led for the duration, hitting .412 as a team with five players collecting multiple kills.
In the third, the score was tied 22 times to 24-all, with a Little Rock (3-1) service error handing the Bears a match point chance and Finley slamming home the final kill.
Brooke Eslinger led the Bears with 11 digs and Redrow had five blocks. The Bear collected nine stuffs as a team and limited the Trojans to a .196 attack efficiency.
