Kyle Weems
Men's Basketball, 2007-12
Kyle Weems, a native of Topeka, Kan., was an AP All-America honorable mention selection in 2011 and a two-time All-MVC first-team selection under coaches Cuonzo Martin and Paul Lusk.Â
He was named the 2011 MVC Larry Bird Player of the Year after leading Martin's Bears to a 28-9 overall record, the club's only Missouri Valley regular-season title and an appearance in the NIT. He earned NABC and USBWA All-Region honors in a remarkable junior campaign and was one of 10 finalists for the Lou Henson Mid-Major National Player of the Year.
Weems led the Bears in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots each of his last three seasons and is Missouri State's all-time leader in games played (134) and double-figure scoring games (109), while ranking No. 2 in program history in scoring (1,868) and No. 4 in rebounds (844). He is the Great Southern Bank Arena all-time leader in both categories.Â
He enjoyed a 13-year professional career after his MSU playing days.
