JEFF WISE
Football and Track, 1925-29
Inducted September 22, 1979

Jeff Wise came to Missouri State from Mt. Vernon, Missouri in 1925 and was a starting lineman four years in a row. He was the first MSU gridder to gain all-conference selection three seasons in a row, gaining a spot at guard as a sophomore and making the honor unit at tackle his last two seasons. He was a two-way performer and was regarded as one of the best linemen in the state of Missouri. His best season was his senior campaign of 1928 when he was the MSU captain as the Bears went 7-1-1 and won the MIAA title while outscoring their opponents by a combined 140-13 margin with seven shutouts during the year. The Ozarko reports that he was the team’s most consistent player. Wise was also a four-year MSU track letterman, running the middle distance events and participating in at least one school record effort in the mile relay.
