HAL HILLHOUSE
Football and Track, 1929-33
Inducted November 7, 1981

A backfield partner of Lonnie Adams for four seasons at Missouri State, the late Hal Hillhouse was a football letterman at MSU from 1929 through 1932 and letterman in track from 1930 through 1933 for the Bears in the era of Arthur Briggs. The Mt. Vernon native helped the Bears to 18 wins against 29 losses in his football career but his play wasn't enough to help offset an era when teams from Northeast Missouri State were rolling undefeated through their MIAA schedule for eight straight years. Hillhouse also excelled four seasons in track under Coach Collins. He was twice elected a track co-captain and led his team to one MIAA indoor title and two league outdoor championships. Hillhouse was the anchor man on the Bears’ record setting mile relay team and also tied the conference mark in the quarter mile with a time of 50.5 seconds in the league meet.
