TIM RIES
Football, 1975-78
A four-year letterman and standout cornerback, Tim Ries (Blue Springs, Mo.) was drafted in the seventh round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. He was a three-time All-MIAA selection for coach Rich Johanningmeier (1976-78) and was a pivotal member of the Bears' 1978 MIAA championship team.Â
Ries had 13 career interceptions (No. 6), 18 pass break-ups (No. 5) and six blocked kicks (No. 2), all of which still rank among the program's all-time career top tens in those categories. His 12 pass break-ups in 1977 and five blocked kicks in 1978 still stand as program single-season records.
