MARK FRYE
Basketball, 1933-36
Inducted October 28, 1978

A native Springfieldian, Mark "Doc" Frye was a four-year basketball letterman for Missouri State between 1933 and 1936. He had the reputation of "playing big" despite his size and was an outstanding floor leader for the Bears. He was a member of MSU teams which won two conference titles. The 1934 club won seven of eight conference games and turned in a 15-4 season record while the following year the Bruins were 16-3 overall and had a 6-2 mark in MIAA activity. A starting forward, Frye was a second team all-conference selection as a junior and was the captain of the Bears during his senior season.
