Inducted 2010
Roshonda Reed played for the Lady Bears of coach Cheryl Burnett from 1995 to 1999 and performed on Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship clubs as a freshman and as a senior while the Lady Bears finished in the runner-up spot in 1997 and 1998. MSU won 25 games and the conference tourney when Reed was a freshman and lost to Texas in the NCAA first round. The Lady Bears had 24 wins and an NCAA matchup with Notre Dame her junior season and won 25 games with an NCAA win over Cal-Santa Barbara before a loss to Colorado State her senior season. A native of Kansas City, Kan., Reed collected two Valley all-conference honorable mention selections and two all-MVC first team picks as she led the Lady Bears in rebounding as a freshman and as a senior. Her final total of 1,540 career points ranked fourth on the Lady Bears' all-time list when Reed finished her Missouri State playing days, and is still seventh on the list more than a decade later, while her 881 career rebounds rank fourth on the all-time list. She is seventh in career field goals (619) and ninth in career steals (179). Reed averaged in double figures in scoring all four of her MSU seasons with a top mark of 15.4 points a game her final year after seasons of 12.6 points a game as a freshman, 13.1 her sophomore year and 13.6 when she was a junior. Her top rebound season was 10.0 a game, also as a senior, and, more than a decade after the end of her career, Reed still owns the Missouri State single season rebound record with the 320 boards she collared in 1999. She also has two of the top four MSU single-game rebound efforts on record with nights of 20 and 18 boards in games during her senior season. Reed was both the MVC Freshman of the Year and MVC Newcomer of the Year in 1996 and she won the Lady Bears' Prestige award as a senior in 1999. Reed now lives in suburban Kansas City and is employed as a letter carrier by the United States Postal Service.
