Nora Cagwin Whitcomb was one of the top starting pitchers in Missouri State softball history in a career which ran from 1996 to 1999 for the Bears of coach Holly Hesse. MSU won 128 of 220 games played in Cagwin's career, with four straight Missouri Valley Conference first division finishes. The Bears won the MVC tournament title and advanced to NCAA regional tourney play each of Cagwin's first three seasons. She finished second in all-time MSU mound victories with 71 and set school career marks with 148 appearances and 767 strikeouts. She was the league's Pitcher of the Year in both 1998 and 1999; the Valley's Most Valuable Player in 1998, a selection to the all-tourney team at the league meet in 1997, 1998 and 1999; and was on the MVC Scholar-Athlete team in 1999.
