Marta Rubina was the top player for the Missouri State women's tennis team as the Bears claimed the Missouri Valley Conference championship in the 2002 and 2003 campaigns before MSU collected a league runner-up finish in 2004 for coach Jim Giachino. Rubina, who hails from Riga, Latvia, is the all-time MSU singles career record holder with a 91-41 record for her time with the Bears and she was 10th in all-time doubles victories at 53-51. She logged 30 singles wins her freshman year for the school’s second best single season win total, and her brilliant rookie season included a 9-2 record at the number six slot for the Bears. Rubina was selected to the all-MVC team for the 2002-03 season after she posted a 23-11 log in her singles competition. She earned all-MVC honors at the number three doubles spot in 2002-03, putting together a 12-4 record with teammate Maria Amato. Rubina also teamed for the MVC doubles championship in the 2001 campaign.
