CARL DAVIS
Football, Basketball and Track, 1922-26
Inducted October 28, 1978

Known as the "All-Around Handy Man" at Missouri State, "Little Carl" Davis was a 5-foot, 8-inch, 155-pounder from Miller who was an MSU standout at halfback and quarterback in football and was a basketball stalwart at both guard and forward. He lettered on the gridiron and in basketball three seasons each and won four letters for the Bears in track. He was an all-conference selection in basketball in both 1925 and 1926 and was the Bears' captain his senior year. Regarded during his playing days as one of the best athletes MSU ever produced, he ran on relay teams in track, threw the javelin and competed in the broad jump. He helped the Bears to four straight MIAA titles in track and was high point man in the 1925 MIAA meet with a first in the broad jump, a tie for first in the high jump with a new meet record, and second place in the javelin. The Carl Davis Medal has been an annual presentation in his honor in track at Greenwood High School. Mr. Davis passed away in 1973.
