WALTER REYNAUD
Football and Track, 1922-26
Inducted September 25, 1976

Monett, Missouri native Walter Reynaud won four Missouri State letters each in football and track in a career which ran from 1922 to 1926. He was a member of the unbeaten MSU state football champs in 1922, a 7-0-0 team which still holds the school record for most points scored in one season. Reynaud was an all-state halfback in 1923 and also handled punting and place-kicking duties for the Bears of Coach A. W. Briggs. He had even more notable performances in track, however, running for four consecutive MSU state track championship teams, and he was captain of the 1926 track Bears. He set a new state record in the low hurdles in the 1923 meet at Tarkio and in 1924 he was the only MSU athlete to win a first place in every meet through the season. He went on to become the Bears’ high point man in the ’24 state event with 10 markers. Reynaud later competed in the pole vault but throughout his career he had the distinction of winning every hurdle race he entered in the state meet with a total of four individual titles in the low hurdles and three in the high hurdles during his MSU career.
