Alize Johnson
Men's Basketball, 2016-18
Before becoming MSU's second NBA Draft pick of its Division I era, Alize Johnson was a two-time NABC All-District and All-MVC first-team selection for the Bears under coach Paul Lusk.Â
The native of Williamsport, Pa., finished second in the 2018 MVC Player of the Year voting and led The Valley in rebounding and double-doubles in both of his seasons in Springfield.Â
Johnson finished his two-year career at MSU with 982 points and 735 rebounds in just 66 games, averaging 14.9 points and 11.1 rebounds with 37 double-doubles. His 384 season rebounds in 2017-18 ranks No. 3 in school history.Â
Likewise, his senior year featured top 10 national rankings in defensive rebounding (2nd, 8.48), total rebounding (5th, 11.6), and in double-doubles (8th, 20).
He also earned MVC Newcomer of the Year and MVC All-Tournament Team laurels in 2016-17. Â
Johnson was selected by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft as the 50th overall pick.
