MICAH HOLST
Baseball, 1996-1999
Micah Holst was a four-year starting center fielder for the baseball Bears of coach Keith Guttin who helped provide a world of leadership and talent which saw the Bears make three NCAA regional tournament appearances, including the 1996 regional in Austin (third place behind Texas and Miami), the 1997 regional in Lubbock (runner-up to Rice) and the 1999 regional in Fayetteville (runner-up to Clemson). A product of Higginsville, Mo., Holst was a Missouri Valley Conference all-league first team selection and a Bears’ co-captain as a senior in 1999 and he finished his Missouri State career among the program’s all-time top ten in games played (223), at bats (865), runs scored (217), hits (284), singles (200), triples (13), runs batted in (175), total bases (447), times hit by pitch (33) and stolen bases (52). The 1999 campaign Holst put together at the plate saw him reach the Bears' single season top five in runs scored, hits and singles. He had two-homer games vs. Indiana State and Bradley in his career. Holst signed a professional contract with the San Francisco Giants in 1999. He currently lives in Kansas City.
