HOWARD ELLIOTT Football and Track, 1938-41
Inducted November 19, 1983
Howard Elliott was a four-year football and track letterman for MSU from 1938 to 1941, performing as a key member of Bear teams during one of the greatest eras in MSU football history. The Aurora native was a member of teams which put together an all-time MSU win streak of 18 in a row from 1939 to 1941, as MSU wound up with a 25-4-1 mark for those seasons, including a perfect 10-0 MIAA championship campaign in 1940. Despite being plagued by a knee injury during much of his career, Elliott performed as a two-way tackle for MSU, gaining all-MIAA second team recognition in 1941. He was also a track standout for the Bears, throwing the shot put and discus to help spark Speedy Collins’ MSU teams to a pair of MIAA runnerup spots in 1938 and 1939.
