JOHN PRASUHN
Track and Cross Country, 1973-77
Inducted February 18, 1989

Distance runner John Prasuhn came to MSU in 1973 and in a career as a four-year letterman in both cross country and track, he became one of the Bears’ greatest distance runners ever. A native of House Springs, Prasuhn finished fourth, first, second, and first in the individual competition in the MIAA championship in cross country in his four seasons, and was a key ingredient as Coach Chuck Hunsaker’s Bears won four straight conference championships and had a 20-4 dual meet mark in that period of time. MSU went on to finish second, first, fourth, and second in NCAA Division II All-America honors when he placed third in the nation in the three-mile run as a freshman and when he placed third in the 5,000 meter run as a junior. He won numerous top three placings in MIAA indoor and outdoor track over his four seasons of competition in various distance events, and held a number of school track standards over the course of his running career.
