Susan Cooper was a two-year volleyball standout for Missouri State for coach Linda Dollar in 1977 and 1978. Cooper was a key on the Bears’ 1977 team which posted a 57-7-3 record as the second winningest team in school history. The Bears won tournaments in Houston, Texas, and Chicago, Ill., and breezed through the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women state and regional meets and placed seventh in the AIAW Division I national event. The following season, MSU was 37-18 and claimed a state title, finished second in the region and again advanced to the national meet and a 17th-place finish.
