A mainstay for coach Keith Guttin's baseball Bears, Bob Zimmermann played a significant role in Missouri State's 2003 NCAA College World Series run.Â
Zimmermann earned Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America, ABCA All-Region and MVC Freshman of the Year honors in 2001 after going 7-3 with 6 saves and a 2.28 ERA. In his junior season of 2003, the St. Louis native earned NCAA All-Regional Tournament honors to go with his 90 strikeouts in 89.0 innings, a season total that once ranked seventh on MSU's single-season list.Â
Likewise, his 13 career saves (2nd) and 183 strikeouts (9th) both ranked among the Bears all-time top 10 at the conclusion of his three-year career. His career stat line also included 60 appearances, a 3.65 ERA and a 14-9 ledger.
He was picked by the Angels in the fourth round of the 2003 MLB Draft.
