MSU Athletics Hall of Fame
Curt Brand
Men's Track & Field, 1985-87
The greatest high jumper in school history, Brand is the MSU men's all-time record holder in that event in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.Â
His top indoor performance of 6-foot-10 helped him win the 1986 Mid-Continent Conference title in Cedar Falls, Iowa, doing so in league-record fashion. He later matched that mark his junior year during a regular-season indoor meet at Mizzou and repeated as AMCU indoor champ in 1987.
Likewise, Brand claimed the 1986 Mid-Continent outdoor title with a remarkable 7-foot effort in Macomb, Ill. -- also a conference record at the time. Always, a true team performer, Brand also finished third in the AMCU outdoor triple jump that same year with a distance of 45-8.
Head coach Richard Clark awarded Brand the Springfield native the Bears Team MVP Award in 1987.
