2016 Track & Field
Indoor: Competed in three meets… Opened the season at the Bob Timmons Challenge (Dec. 4) where she finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run (11:19.66) and helped the distance medley relay to a second-place finish (12:52.40)… Made second attempt at the 3,000-meter run at the Pittsburg State Invitational (Jan. 29), finishing in a time of 11:21.35… Concluded her season at the Gorilla Classic (Feb. 12-13) as she was the first and only Bear to compete in the 5,000-meter run in the 2015-16 season, finishing in a time of 18:49.96.
Outdoor: Competed in five meets… Started her freshman outdoor season finishing second in the 3,000-meter run (11:04.57) at the Margaret Simmons Invitational (April 1)… Traveled to the Tom Botts Invitational (April 16) to compete in her first 5,000-meter run of the season (18:56.74)… Shaved eight seconds off her personal best time to finish second in the 3,000-meter run (10:56.11) at the Missouri State Invitational (April 22)… Finished fourth at the Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational (April 29) in the 5,000-meter run (18:53.85)… Concluded freshman campaign at the MVC Outdoor Championships (May 13-15) competing in the 10,000-meter run (39:08.80) for the first time.
Background: Lettered 11 times in four different sports while at Blair Oaks High School... Lettered four years in track and field while participating in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, and as a member of the 4x800m relay team... Lettered three years as a member of the cross country squad... Named Individual Tr-County Conference Champion her senior year... Earned recognition of being Blair Oaks' top 5 best runners in school history her senior year.
Personal: Alyson Jones was born June 23, 1996 in Columbia, Mo.... Daughter of Jim and Kelli Jones... Mother participated in track and field and cross country at MSU, while sister currently plays softball at MSU... Plans on majoring in public relations with a minor in marketing.
