Indoor: Competed in three meets… Tossed a career best 11.43 shot put attempt at the season opener Bob Timmons Challenge.

Outdoor: Competed in six meets… Earned 13^th place finish and a new career best in the Discus Throw at the MVC Outdoor Championship, with a 41.65m throw.

2016-17 Track and Field
Indoor: Did not compete for the Bears.

Outdoor: Competed in four meets … Posted a mark of 10.91 meters in the shot put at the Bulldog Relays (March 17-18) and 37.14 meters in the discus … At the Bobcat Invitational (March 30-31), turned in 36.35 meters in the discus … Posted 36.35 meters mark in discus at the Tom Botts Invitational (April 14-15) … Finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 11.15 meters at the Rock Chalk Classic (April 28) and fourth in the discus with a throw of 39.09 meters.

2015-16 Track and Field
Indoor: Did not compete for the Bears.
Outdoor: Competed in fie meets… Opened her freshman campaign at the Margaret Simmons Invitational (April 1) finishing third in the shot put (10.78 meters), eighth in the hammer throw (30.34 meters) and first in the discus (40.53 meters)… Traveled to the Gibson Invitational (April 9) competing in the shot put (10.55 meters) and discus throw (33.33 meters)… Continued the season at the Tom Botts Invitational (April 16) tossing 10.87 meters in the shot put, 38.31 meters in the discus and hurling 32.08 meters in the hammer throw… Finished seventh in the shot put (10.57 meters), second in the discus (41.62 meters) and eighth in the hammer throw (34.65 meters) at the Missouri State Invitational (April 22)… Concluded the season at the MVC Outdoor Championships (May 13-15) throwing 34.65 meters in the discus.

Background: Earned a spot on the national senior athletic squad 2012-2015 and on the junior national athletic squad 2009-2014... Placed first in the discus throw and 3rd in the shot put at the national championships for Sri Lanka... Competed in the South Asian Junior Games in 2013 and finished first in the discus throw and second in the shot put.

Personal: Amanthi Silva was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka on November 20... Daughter of the late Gerard Silva and Dayani Silva... Has a brother Hasitha and sister Navodi... Father was the discus throw Sri Lanka National Champion in 1970... Plans to study accounting at MSU... Aspires to continue her education upon graduation from MSU.
