Biography

At MSU: Lance Parker had a record-breaking season in goal last season in his first year as a starter and should be one of the best goalkeepers in the MVC in 2007. 2006: Parker was dominant from the start of the season, recording a shutout in the season opener and tallied seven for the season, tying for third on the school's single-season shutout list. Parker set a school record and led the MVC with a 0.57 goals-against average and finished the season ranked seventh nationally. He also set a school record for fewest goals allowed in a season, giving up only nine. His .845 save percentage also led the MVC during the regular season and was 11th-best in the country. Parker allowed only two goals in the Bears' six home matches and had shutouts in all three MSU conference victories. Parker was named to the All-MVC second team for his play, and was voted the league's defensive player of the week on October 3 after recording eight saves in a 1-0 loss at national power Saint Louis and posting a shutout against Eastern Illinois in a 2-0 victory. After picking up his seventh shoutout in the Bears' 1-0 win in the home finale against Western Kentucky (10/14), Parker was injured in the first half of the next match at Drake (10/21) and missed the remainder of the season. Also stellar in the classroom, Parker was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete first team and to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII first team. 2005: Parker saw action in three matches, backing up second team All-MVC GK Nathan Platz. Parker was in goal for victories over IPFW (9/17), Belmont (9/25), and Evansville (10/19), allowing one goal in 45 minutes. 2004: Parker earned valuable playing time, making two starts in six appearances, and was 1-1-0 in the goal as a freshman for the Bears. The Oklahoma City, Okla., native made 10 saves while allowing just four goals for a 1.46 goals-against average in his first season. His first career win was a shutout upset of the Creighton Bluejays. Background: Parker was an all-conference and all-district performer during his junior season in high school, while helping his team to a conference championship and state semifinal appearance. Parker received all-district honors his sophomore season. Personal: Lance Andrew Parker is the son of Dennis and Susan Parker. He was born August 19, 1985.
