Biography

At MSU: Henry Lawrence, III sat out last season with a knee injury, but returned strong in the spring and should give the Bears an offensive threat from the forward position in 2007. 2005: Lawrence saw action in all 18 matches, scoring three goals and picking up one assist. Lawrence scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the season opener against Florida Atlantic (9/2) to give the Bears a 2-1 victory. The Brandon, Miss., native also picked up two goals in MSU's 5-1 conference victory over Evansville (10/19). He was one of four Bears to record multi-goal games in 2005. He fired 19 shots, including nine that were on goal. 2004: Lawrence saw playing time in 12 contests as a freshman. He added the game-winning assist on a goal by Bennett in the Bears' win over Valparaiso (9/26) for his only point of the season. The 5-9 forward had two shots in 2004. Background: Lawrence led the St. Joseph Catholic High Bruins to the MHSCA 1A-3A state championship three consecutive seasons (2002-04), while being a first team all-MHSCA selection in 2003 and a second team all-MHSCA selection in 2002. He was the MHSCA, Clarion Ledger and the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year in 2004. Lawrence led the state with 32 goals scored in 2003.
