WICHITA, Kan. – The Missouri State track and field team netted five more points to move to sixth with 21 total points on the second day of the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship at Cessna Stadium.
Chelsey Linton tallied a team point with an eighth-place finish with 4817 total points in the heptathlon while
Olivia Ott finished with 4231 points, good for 13
th overall. Linton finished eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33.60, and ninth in the long jump and javelin with distances of 5.24 meters and 32.50 meters, respectively. Ott finished tenth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:36.97 and eleventh in both the long jump (5.17 meters) and javelin (30.39 meters).
In the long jump, freshman
Sidne' Williamson finished sixth and collected three points for the Bears with a personal best distance of 5.62 meters. Senior
Holly Pattie-Belleli posted a jump of 5.48 meters to finish eighth and collect a team point. Linton tallied a distance of 5.16 meters as Ott jumped 5.02 meters, finishing 20
th and 21
st, respectively.
Freshman
Grace Breiten finished ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:30.70.
Asha Cave posted a personal best time of 23.78 in a 200-meter dash run off to secure the eighth position in the Sunday final with a prelims time of 24.15.
In the 100-meter hurdles prelims, Pattie-Belleli finished fourth with a time of 13.62 to move onto the finals.
Chicago Bains turned in a time of 14.25, good for 12
th overall.
Shani Adams will run in the 400-meter hurdles final after finishing in a time of 1:00.40. Pattie-Belleli turned in a time of 1:05.33 as Bains checked in at 1:06.81, finishing 12
th and 13
th, respectively.
Marissa Kurtimah advanced to the finals in the 100-meter dash after turning in a time of 11.44. Cave also advanced to race in the final with a prelim time of 11.71.
Taryn Smiley finished in 11
th with a time off 11.85 as Williamson and
Kelli Bowen rounded out the Bears in 20
th (12.25) and 23
rd (12.39) place, respectively.
In the 800-meter run,
Cindy Forde finished sixth with a time of 2:14.14 to advance to the finals.
Megan Nickles turned in a time of 2:19.96 as
Madeline Saville posted a time of 2:25.68 to finish 18
th and 25
th, respectively.
The final day of the MVC Championship begins on Sunday (May 14) at 12:55 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay at Cessna Stadium.
