NORMAN, Okla. – The Missouri State track and field team collected 50 points to finish sixth of nine teams competing at Oklahoma's John Jacobs Invitational on Saturday (April 22).
In the 100-meter dash,
Asha Cave won her heat and took seventh overall with a time of 11.86.
Taryn Smiley also won her heat with a time of 12.03, finishing 13
th overall.
Junior
Marissa Kurtimah tallied a time of 24.06 in the 200-meter dash to finish fourth while
Maya Genard finished in a time of 25.08 to place 15
th.
Senior
Cindy Forde collected sixth place in the 800-meter run after posting a time of 2:15.38.
Madeline Saville collected a new personal best with at time of 2:19.45 to finish 13
th.
Freshman
Grace Breiten collected three points for the Bears with a sixth-place finish in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase with a time of 11.25.67.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Shani Adams crossed the finish line with a time of 1.01.02 to collect a fourth-place finish.
Holly Pattie-Belleli tallied a time of 1:03.22 while
Chicago Bains posted a new personal best time, 1:06.05.
Bears' quartet of Cave, Genard, Kurtimah and Pattie-Belleli finished second with a time of 46.11 in the 4x100 meter relay. Adams replaced Cave as the lead leg while Pattie-Belleli and Kurtimah switched legs in the 4x400-meter relay, as the four runners posted a fourth-place time of 3:49.57.
In the javelin throw,
Melanie Raterman tallied five points for the Bears after throwing a fourth-place distance of 40.69 meters.
Missouri State returns to competition April 26-29 to compete in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. A portion of the team will head to Lawrence, Kansas, for the Rock Chalk Classic on April 29.
