2018: Zimmerman saw action in 40 games in his first season with the Bears, hitting .219 with six home runs—five of which came during a red-hot stretch run over Missouri State’s final 11 games ... Recorded five multi-hit and multi-RBI performances ... Went 3-for-4 with a home run in his second game as a Bear at Lamar (Feb. 16), helping MSU to an 11-2 victory ... Came off the bench to go 1-for-2 against Oklahoma State (March 7), then drove in a run with a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to drive in MSU’s lone tally in a 4-1 setback to Arkansas State (March 10) ... Logged hits in four-straight games, March 21-27 ... Delivered a game-tying, two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning against Murray State (March 21) to pave the way to an eventual 5-4 win in 10 innings ... Also drove in the go-ahead run with a second-inning single before scoring two runs of his own in the Bears’ 12-2 victory at Kansas (March 27) ... Produced three consecutive multi-RBI performances, May 12-17 ... Snapped out of an offensive dry spell with a two-RBI effort vs. Southern Illinois (May 12), singling home one run and driving in another with a sac fly; matched a career high with three hits, including a home run, in the Bears’ series finale with SIU (May 13) ... Homered twice in MSU’s conference championship-clinching victory over DBU (May 17), driving in three runs to help put away the 9-5 win ... Also walked twice and scored a run in the series finale with DBU, helping the Bears’ clinch their sixth MVC title outright with a 10-4 decision ... Came through with back-to-back two-hit games at the MVC Championship, going 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBIs against Evansville (May 23), then going deep once again as part of a 2-for-4 effort the following day vs. Indiana State ... Named to the MVC Championship All-Tournament Team after hitting .357 in MSU’s four victories ... Batted .314 (11-for-35) with five homers and 12 RBIs over the Bears’ last 11 contests ... Named to the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. 

Background: Zimmerman, a junior transfer from Cowley (Kan.) County Community College, joins the Bears after hitting .383 with four homers and 60 RBIs in his lone junior college campaign ... Captured all-conference and Region VI All-Tournament team honors for a Cowley club that finished third at the NJCAA Division I World Series in 2017 ... Also earned NJCAA Academic All-America laurels ... Spent his freshman campaign at Kansas State where he appeared in 37 games, hitting .216 with a home run and eight RBIs ... A two-time Oklahoma 6A All-State selection as a prep standout at Stillwater High School, Zimmerman hit .460 with 11 round-trippers and 60 RBIs as a senior after helping lead the Pioneers to a state championship as a junior in 2014.
