PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri State's track and field team welcomed the season at the Crimson and Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State on Saturday night.

Linzy Williams led the way with her first-place finish in the high jump open. The sophomore set a personal record of 1.69-meters on her way to her first event win as a Bear.
Kayleigh Jenkins and
Maggie Haase finished in the top 10 with attempts of 1.60-meters and 1.55-meters to place eighth and ninth, respectively.

MoState had 10 more top-10 finishes in the meet, including
Olivia Rogers who finished with two. The sophomore sprinter set a personal record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.93 and a third-place finish, then set another PR in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.55 to place fourth. Jenkins was right behind Rogers in the 200-meter dash with a personal record of 25.32 and freshman
Rakiya Lang finished in 10
th with a time of 25.53 in her first outing as a Bear.

Another freshman made an appearance inside the top 10 in the 400-meter dash.
BreAna Garrett recorded a time of 56.75 on her way to a fifth-place finish. Senior
Meghan Halstead set a personal record to finish in seventh with a time of 57.18 and to win her section.

Abby Meyer was the sole Missouri State representative in the 800-meter run in which she finished 10
th with a time of 2:16.69.

In the final track event of the day, the Bears picked up three top-10 finishes.
Tabitha Fox set a personal record in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:04.02 and a sixth-place finish. She was followed closely by
Ella Cronhardt with a time of 10:15.83 and
Mary Margaret Harris who finished ninth and 10
th, respectively.

Garrett secured another top-10 when her relay group consisting of
Whitney Farrington,
Seleena Morris and Halstead finished seventh in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:52.40.

Maliya Clark was the final top-10 competitor for the Bears. The freshman finished 10
th in the triple jump with an attempt of 11.27-meters in her debut as a Bear.

"It was a really productive day for us, and it was exciting to watch everybody compete for the first time," head coach
Jordan Fife said. "Today's performance will give us a good idea of what to focus on over break. I have no doubt that we're going to see a lot of progress through January and February. We're just getting started."

MoState will have over a month until its next meet on Jan. 17 at the Show-Me Showdown hosted by Missouri.
