
MVC Releases Swimming Specialty and All-Conference Awards

ST. LOUIS – Freshman Kiefer Roemer received the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Freshman of the Year award on Saturday, and head coach Dave Collins was named the MVC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year. This comes after the Missouri State men's swimming and diving team earned their 22nd total conference championship in program history, and sixth total MVC championship.
The MVC also released its all-conference first team and honorable mentions accolades.
Roemer achieved his accolade following a brilliant performance throughout the season and especially during the Missouri Valley Conference Championship which helped guide the Bears to victory.
Roemer won gold in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 52.56 that set an MVC record and earned him a ticket to the 2026 DI NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. The time is also the second fastest in school history.
Roemer also earned a gold medal in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:56.83.
Senior Gonzalo Ruiz, Roemer, sophomore Jack Ailshire and senior Lucas Chadwell also earned a gold medal in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:25.61. Â
Coach Collins earned the MVC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year. This is Collins' first MVC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year award, and his sixth overall (he is also a five-time MAC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year: 2012-13, 2013-14, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2019-20).
The MVC also released the all-conference first team and honorable mention accolades on Sunday.
