SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State swimming and diving enjoyed a brilliant opening day here Friday, starting a two-day dual with Omaha in the Bears' home season-opener at Hammons Student Center Pool.
At the halfway point, the Missouri State men lead 130-56, while the women also lead, 149-37.
I was really pleased with how we performed our goal was to bring a lot of energy and just really compete and I thought we did a great job, said head coach Dave Collins. What a great crowd, this place is really rocking with the DJ, it's a great atmosphere and I am looking forward to more tomorrow.
On the men's side, the Bears earned six individual and both team relay victories.
Anderson Brown (Sr., Kyle, Texas) set a new Mo State pool record in the 400 individual medley (3:52.44). He followed this up with a victory in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 47.54.
I first and foremost have to thank my teammates and thank my coaches for showing up every day, said Brown. There's a lot of hard work that goes into writing workouts just as much if not more as executing them. Our coaches are pretty phenomenal and then my teammates are just lights out every morning, every night, every time we get into the water. I'm really thankful for the opportunities here.
