Track and Field Bears Set for Two-Day Meet at Washburn

Keeping Track of the Bears

The Missouri State track and field team will tackle its first two-day meet of the indoor season at the Washburn Open and Multis on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. The meet will be shown in the MIAA Network.
The meet will feature 1,935 total athletes from 125 teams and clubs. Thirty-nine Bears will compete in the meet in 13 different events. For the first time this season, Bears will have the opportunity to compete in the distance medley relay and the pentathlon.
The meet will feature teams MoState is familiar with. Fellow Missouri Valley Conference competitor Drake will make an appearance at the competition.
Last time out, the Bears go their first taste of MVC competition when they competed in the Bob Teel Invitational alongside Murray State.
At the Bob Teel Invite, sophomore Ella Cronhardt broke a 3-year-old school record in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:53.40. She also won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.47. Olivia Rogers was the Bears other event winner with a time of 7.58 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
Rogers holds the fifth fastest times in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash in the MVC while Cronhardt holds the eighth fastest time in the 800-meter run. Missouri State is ranked second in the Valley in the 4x400-meter relay thanks to the time set at the Show-Me Showdown by Whitney Farrington, BreAna Garrett, Meghan Halstead and Seleena Morris.
