ST. LOUIS – Four Missouri State track and field athletes were named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, the league announced Friday.

Brooke Jenkins was named to the list for the third time in her career while
Whitney Farrington,
Jaide Rose and
Mia McLain received the award for the first time.

Jenkins previously was named to the scholar-athlete team for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She finished in fifth place at the MVC Indoor Championship with an 11.02-meter attempt in the triple jump. During the outdoor season, she set a personal record at the John Jacobs College Invitational in the triple jump with an attempt of 11.75 meters. Jenkins recorded one first-place finish in long jump and three second place finishes in triple jump this season and holds a 3.55 GPA in Physical Education. Â

Farrington finished sixth in the MVC Indoor Championship 400-meter dash with a time of 56.30. In the outdoor championship, she finished fifth in the 400-meter with a time of 55.49. Both of her 400-meter championship runs set personal records for the sophomore. Farrington wrapped the season with one first-place finish, two second-place finishes and a third-place finish. She maintains a 3.54 GPA with a major in Kinesiology.

Rose finished fifth in javelin at the MVC Outdoor Championship with an attempt of 40.71m. Earlier in the season, she finished in third place at the Springfield Showdown after an attempt of 34.25m. Rose has maintained a 3.67 GPA with a major in Physical Education.

McLain secured an eighth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:02.96 at the MVC Outdoor Championship. She set five personal records through the indoor and outdoor season and recorded two first-place finishes, one second-place finish and one third-place finish. McLain was named to the cross-country scholar-athlete list as well. She has maintained a 4.00 GPA in Speech-Language Pathology.

To be eligible for the MVC Scholar-Athlete List, athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and must have placed in the top-eight for an individual event or the top-three for a relay event at the indoor or outdoor MVC Championship.
