LYNCHBURG, Va. - Missouri State women's track and field turned in a record-setting performance over two days at the Conference USA Indoor Championships, led by multiple all-time top-10 marks, including a pair of relay performances, and multiple personal-best efforts across the board.
As a team, the Bears finished 10th in the 12-team field with 27.6 points. Kennesaw State (140.5) captured the women's team title, just ahead of runner-up and host Liberty (126.5) and third-place FIU (81.6)
Olivia Rogers led the way for the Bears in the 60-meter dash. After qualifying sixth in prelims with a 7.46, Rogers sprinted to a third-place finish in the final with a personal-best time of 7.44, moving to No. 4 all-time in Missouri State program history.
Delaney Weimer (7.54) recorded a season-best time in prelims, while
Kayleigh Jenkins (7.56) posted a personal-best mark. In the 60-meter hurdles,
Cheria Galbreath clocked a personal-best 8.88 in prelims, tying for No. 10 all-time in school history.
Rogers returned in the 200-meter dash to place 11th in 24.44, with Weimer and
Jordyn Buckley finishing 16th and 17th, respectively. In the 400-meter,
Claire Farrell advanced to the final after running 55.35 in prelims and followed with a personal-best 55.19 to place fifth overall, a mark that now ranks No. 9 all-time at Missouri State.
BreAna Garrett (56.02),
Whitney Farrington (56.28) and
Raegan Foster, who recorded a personal-best 56.97, added solid performances in prelim action.
In the 800-meter prelims,
Abby Meyer posted a personal-best 2:12.85, moving to No. 8 all-time in program history, while
Faith Fotiades also recorded a personal-best 2:16.22.
Ella Cronhardt continued her strong indoor campaign in the mile, qualifying sixth in 4:57.21 before returning in the final to run a personal-best 4:50.52. Her time ranks No. 2 all-time in Missouri State history.
Missouri State's distance group showed depth in the 3,000-meter run, where three Bears recorded personal-best times.
Elsa Henry led the group in 10:04.36, followed by
Madilyn Moore (10:10.30),
Ella Rew (10:14.24) and
Addysen Clark (10:19.61). Moore paced the Bears in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best 17:33.67, as four Missouri State runners placed between 13th and 21st overall.
The Bears secured a podium finish in the Distance Medley Relay, as
Mary Margaret Harris, Farrell, Garrett and Cronhardt combined to place third in 11:45.03, a time that ranks No. 6 all-time in program history. Missouri State closed the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, where Farrington, Foster, Farrell and Garrett ran 3:43.72 to move to No. 7 all-time.
In the field events,
Shiloh Cross recorded a personal-best mark of 12.35 meters in the triple jump to place sixth and move to No. 9 all-time at Missouri State.
Kayleigh Jenkins and
Maggie Haase each cleared 1.61 meters in the high jump, while
Mirabella Redman led the Bears in the long jump with a mark of 5.23 meters.
In the pentathlon,
Bessie Swoboda (3,115 points) and
Sadie McCulloh (3,090 points) each recorded personal-best totals to round out a productive championship weekend for the Bears in Lynchburg.
"It was a great first experience in CUSA. The level of competition brought out the best in our athletes," head coach
Jordan Fife said. "Our group brought such good energy and effort all weekend. We're looking forward to improving our performances at the outdoor championship."
