NORMAN, Okla. – The Missouri State track and field team finished out day one of the John Jacobs College Invitational hosted by Oklahoma with a first-place finish in the 5000-meter run on Friday.

Riley Bryan recorded the first-place finish for the Bears with a time of 17:39.37 to also set a personal record. The freshman beat her previous record by .59 seconds. Bryan also took place in the 5000-meter run at the SBU Bearcat Invitational on March 30.

The Bears had two more runners in the top-10 for the 5000-meter run.
Mia McLain finished fourth with a time of 17:49.17 and
Grace Spoonhour finished eighth with a time of 18:02.24.

MoState also had a pair of top-10 finishes in the 800-meter run with
Mary Margaret Harris in eighth with a time of 2:15.82 and
Ella Cronhardt in tenth with a time of 2:16.43.

Cheyenne White recorded the Bears final top-10 finish of the day in javelin. White threw 40.97m to finish in seventh place.

"We had a very solid opening day, including a big win from Riley in the 5k. We're ready for a big day two with more breakthroughs," head coach
Jordan Fife said.
