
Track and Field Bears Close Out Sevigne Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Missouri State track and field team closed out its weekend at the Frank Sevigne Invitational at the University of Nebraska with seven new personal records on Saturday.

The Bears saw their most new records in the distance events. Three Bears set a new personal best in the 1-mile run with Mary Margaret Harris leading the way for the Bears with a time of 5:02.65. Tabitha Fox finished less than two seconds later with a time of 5:03.17. Emily Nuttall rounded out the pack with a time of 5:13.79.

Three more Bears set new personal records in the 3000-meter run. Margo Nea finished in 18th place with a time of 10:17.33 followed closely by Riley Bryan with a time of 10:21.68 in 19th place. The final personal best in distance came from Grace Spoonhour with a 21st place finish with a time of 10:25.03.

Rachel Lacey secured the only personal record in a field event with a 9.57-meter attempt in shot put. Lacey finished in 22nd place.

"We had a handful of good performances this weekend, but the main theme is coming out of this meet wanting more," head coach Jordan Fife said. "We know this is a capable group but we have to keep working and get a few things corrected over the next few weeks if we're going to be competitive at conference."

The Bears will compete in the Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State University on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10.
