Keeping Track of the Bears
- The Missouri State track and field team is back from a month-long break to compete in its first meet of the calendar year. Washburn will host the Bears for the Washburn Rust Buster on Saturday. Field events will begin at 10:00 a.m. and track events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
- Live timing will be available. The meet will be shown on the MIAA Network.
- Between the men's and women's competitions, 54 teams are scheduled to compete for a total of 1,056 athletes and 1,789 entries.
- Thirty-three Bears will compete in the meet with 12 making their season debuts.
- The distance runners will compete in their first meet of the season. Mia McLain and Mary Margaret Harris will be among the distance runners making their season debut. At the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship, McLain and Harris etched their names in the MoState top-20 with 6k times of 21:43.2 and 21:47.4.
- The Bears did not compete in last year's Washburn Rust Buster, but they did make a trip to another Washburn meet. At the Washburn Open & Multi, Missouri State brought home a pair of first-place finishes.
- Last time out, Rachel Lacey, Whitney Farrington and Victory Ifah set new personal records in the 60-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, respectively.
- Brooke Jenkins was the sole top-10 finisher at the Crimson and Gold Invitational when she finished in seventh-place in long jump with an attempt of 5.62 meters.
- Missouri State will compete in seven meets in the indoor season. Four of the seven take place in the state of Kansas.
