TOPEKA, Kan. –
Led by first-place finishes in the distance medley relay and in the high jump invitational, the Missouri State track and field team wrapped up its fourth meet of the indoor season here Saturday evening.

The Bears' relay team of Edna Dar, Victory Ifah, Ashley Rolewicz and Margo Nea raced to a first-place finish on day one of the Washburn Open & Multi, ending the race with a time of 12:14.06. The competitive time bested 16 other teams racing in the event.

DaeLin Switzer finished the day in impressive fashion for the Bears as well, jumping to a height of 1.72 meters. The height matched her lifetime best which she achieved last year at the Gorilla Classic.

"It was another productive meet highlighted by DaeLin's high jump win and her big lifetime best in the 60 hurdles. She was locked in today," said head coach Jordan Fife. "Our Distance Medley Relay team put together a nice race last night to get a win as well."

In the finals of the 60-meter run, Calandra Henry led the Bears' efforts, racing a time of 7.60 to finish in third place. In the qualifying round of the 60-meter, Charity Obazughanmwen raced to a huge personal best of 7.68 seconds to qualify for the finals of the event.

Henry also found success in the 200-meter, racing to third place with a time of 24.67.

In the 3,000-meter run, Nea raced a time of 10:20.86, good for an 18 second lifetime best finishing sixth for the Bears in the event.

Switzer also found success in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing sixth in the event with a time of 9.14 after qualifying with a lifetime best of 8.97.

Rolewicz competed in the one mile run for MSU, finishing seventh in the field of 59 athletes with a time of 5:10.48.

"We need to get a few people healthy and rested this week to get back on track," continued Fife. "Hopefully we can get some decent weather this week to get in some good work outside. It's been difficult to get a good rhythm the last couple of weeks with some of the event groups."

The Bears return to Pittsburg, Kan., next weekend to continue their season at the Gorilla Classic on Feb. 10-11.
