CHICAGO –
With two medals and a school record in tow, Calandra Henry helped close out the Bears' indoor season on a high note here Monday afternoon on day two of the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships.

Sprinting to lifetime bests in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash finals, Henry earned a gold medal in the 60m, with a lifetime best time of 7.28 seconds. In the 200m it was more of the same for the senior sprinter, as Henry eclipsed the school record setting the new time to beat at 23.62 seconds. The mark earned her the runner-up spot on the podium in the event to end her successful championships.

Tamera Rhode also found success on final day of her indoor season, as the Russellville, Ark., native's lifetime best in the 400-meter dash earned her a third-place medal in her first-ever MVC championships.

The pair of sprinters both earned All-Conference honors for their top finishes at the indoor finale.

"I'm very proud of the effort from our team," said head coach Jordan Fife. "They fought incredibly hard all the way to the end and outperformed their seeding in so many places. They put themselves in a great position to move up the standings from where we were ranked but ultimately came up just a bit short."

Leading the Bears' field efforts, DaeLin Switzer earned a spot on the podium for the second-straight season, finishing in third place and grabbing All-MVC honors of her own. The sophomore leapt to a height of 1.69 meters to grab the bronze medal. Switzer also represented MSU in the 60-meter hurdles final after qualifying for the event in Sunday's preliminaries. Switzer finished seventh in the event, clocking her second personal best of the weekend racing a time of 8.84 seconds.

Brooke Jenkins was back in action for the Bears to wrap up the championships and upped her finish in the triple jump. The senior jumper finished three spots ahead of last season's championships in sixth place with a mark of 11.37 meters.

Concluding the Bears' individual events, Margo Nea represented the Bears in the 3,000-meter run, finishing in 24th place. Her time of 10:35.68 was her second fastest time in the event this season.

Wrapping up the championships for MSU, the Bears 4x400-meter relay team of Charity Obazughanmwen, Henry, Edna Dar and Rhode finished fifth with a time of 3:50.53.

"It was an exciting day and there was so much to celebrate between Calandra's 60m victory, and her school record and runner up finish in the 200m, Tamera's all conference finish in the 400m, and DaeLin's all conference performance in the High Jump. Those were some big time performances and definitely set the bar higher as we head in to outdoor," finished Fife.

The track and field team will get a month off before it is back in action to kick off outdoor season Friday, March 31-Saturday, April 1, when the Bears compete at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Southwest Baptist.
