PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Missouri State track and field team opened the indoor season with a top-10 finish in long jump and a handful of new personal records at the Crimson and Gold Invitational at Pittsburg State on Saturday.
 
Brooke Jenkins was the Bears' solo top-10 performer with her seventh-place finish in long jump. On her first attempt, Jenkins made a 5.62-meter jump that landed her in seventh.
 
The Bears saw several new personal records set during the Saturday meet. Rachel Lacey broke her previous record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.47. Her previous personal best was 9.57 set at the Pittsburg State Invitational last January.
 
Whitney Farrington also set a new personal best in the 400-meter dash. With a time of 58.6, Farrington crushed her previous record of 1:00.01 set at last season's Pittsburg State Invitational.
 
Victory Ifah rounds out the personal record breakers for the day with her performance in the 800-meter run. Ifah finished the run with a time of 2:21.52 to shatter her previous record of 2:28.92 that was set at the Washburn Open last February.
 
The Bears will have a month off until their next meet. They will be back in action on Saturday, January 20 at the Washburn Rust Buster hosted by Washburn University.
