SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team wraps up its indoor regular season this weekend at the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday, Feb. 18.
The University of Arkansas will be the meet host at the Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where athletes from across the country will compete. The Bears have 33 entries in the meet, which will be their final preparation before the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships taking place on Feb. 27-28.
This weekend, MSU will look to build on the success Madison Meredith has been building throughout the indoor season. Last weekend at the Gorilla Classic, the senior sprinter raced a lifetime best, meet record and school record of 7.26 seconds in the 60-meter dash, her time tying for 17th in the NCAA rankings. She also earned her fifth medal of the indoor season.
Edna Dar will represent the Bears in the one-mile run, as one of 21 athletes with accepted entries. Dar's season-best time of 4:56.94 in the event came three weeks ago at the Jayhawk Classic which she will look to build on this weekend. Also on the distance front, Shelby Palmer, Adyson Delaney and Margo Nea will compete in the 3,000-meter run. Palmer's time of 10:21.85 at the Gorilla Classic last weekend, earned her a top-10 finish as well as her new season best.
DaeLin Switzer will participate in the high jump for the Bears after finishing in third place at the Gorilla Classic with a season-best height of 1.72 meters. Also representing MSU in jumps will be Brooke Jenkins, Tamia Rayford and Nakaja Weaver competing in the long jump.
Friday's meet will kick off with field events at 1 p.m., followed by track events at 3 p.m.
