SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State swimming and diving continues its season at home Friday at 5 p.m., taking on Drury at the Hammons Student Center Pool. In addition, it's senior night for the Bears. Admission is free.

Bear Splashes (Women)
- In the dual versus Lindenwood, first place finishers for the Bears included Vera Margula (Women 1000 Yard Freestyle, 10:37.72), Anna Lucas (two first-place finishes: Women 200 Yard Freestyle, 1:53.08, Women 100 Yard Freestyle, 52.25), Ulyana Zubina (Women 50 Yard Freestyle, 24.01), Sami Roemer (two first-place finishes: Women 200 Yard IM, 2:06.40, Women 100 Yard Butterfly, 54.95), Lily DeSpain (Women 500 Yard Freestyle, 5:09.47) and Yuliya Zubina (Women 100 Yard Breaststroke, 1:03.77). The Bears also finished first in both the Women 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:30.96) and the Women 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:43.21).
- Women's swimming and diving is coming off its sixth straight Missouri Valley Conference Championship in 2022 and 18th in 20 seasons.
- Returning 2022 All-MVC First Team selections include: Margula, Grace Beahan, Roemer, Kelly Sego, Anna Lucas, Yuliya Zubina, Cabrini Johnson, Alessia Puleo, Samantha Hietpas and Jordan Wenner.
- During last year's MVC Championships, the Bears won 14 of the 20 total events, including all five relay events and decimated nine conference records over the course of the four-day meet.
- Head coach Dave Collins was named the 2022 MVC Swimming Coach of the Year after leading the MSU women to their 10th conference title under his guidance.
- Four freshman are part of the 2022-23 women's squad: Sophia Hawley, Claire Houston, Ainsley Jenkins and Mai Ortega Bonilla.
- At last week's opening dual versus Lindenwood, the women defeated the Lions, 164-77.

- Â In the dual versus Lindenwood, first place finishers for the Bears included Dylan Moffatt (two first-place finishes: 1000 Yard Freestyle, 9:42.52, Men 500 Yard Freestyle, 4:40.82), Pawel Krawczyk (Men 200 Yard Freestyle, 1:41.44), Brunno Suzuki (Men 100 Yard Freestyle, 46.80) and Robbie Hill (Men 100 Yard Backstroke, 50.84). The Bears also finished first in the Men 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:05.50).
- All six 2021-22 First Team All-Mac selections return for the Bears: Moffat, Krawczyk, AJ Huskey, Suzuki, Robbie Hill, and Jonathan Hill.
- Â Compared to the women's four, the men's team welcomes 11 freshmen to this year's roster: Chris Bedsole, Alex Boutin, Lucas Chadwell, Jack Dean, Aiden Dunn, Brayden Goeldner, Jack Grandy, George Holesinger, Cole Hysong, Storm Opdahl and Logan Schelfaut.
- Â Four seniors lead the Bears this season: Jonathan Hill, Krawczyk, Tyler Lewis and James Vaughn.
- Â In 2021-22, the men's team placed third at the MAC Championships. The men's team has finished in the top three 10 straight times at the MAC Championships.
- At last week's opening dual versus Lindenwood, the men defeated the Lions, 128-115.
Series History
- The Bears are 22-18 all-time against Drury on the men's side and 11-20 on the women's side.
- The teams last met on 12/17/21 in Springfield. MoState won on both the men's side (124-117) and women's side (123-114).
Looking Ahead
- After the dual at home versus Drury, MSU will hit the road and participate in the MVC Showcase in Carbondale, Ill. from Oct. 21-22.
- The Bears and Panthers will meet again later in the season, with Drury hosting a dual between the two schools on Jan. 20, 2023, at 5 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
