WESTMONT, Ill. - Sophomore Kiefer Roemer and freshman Elias Mendez represented Missouri State swimming and diving at the US Short Course World Championship Trials on Thursday morning.
"I'm really proud of Kiefer and Elias and the way they competed today," stated associate head coach Chelsea Dirks-Ham. "Racing short course meters provides valuable experience. Anytime you have the opportunity to compete alongside some of the best swimmers in the world, it's a chance to learn, grow, and challenge yourself at a higher level. This is a great opportunity for both of them to continue developing as athletes, and I'm excited to see how they build on this experience moving forward."
Roemer (So., Bettendorf, Iowa) entered the 100 breaststroke as the 12th seed. His time of 59.67 placed him in 14th place overall in the preliminary heats.
Mendez (Fr., Stillwater, Okla.) entered the 200 backstroke as the 15th seed. His time of 1:58.75 placed him in 14th place overall in the preliminary heats.
