Background
Mendez joins the Bears after graduating from Stillwater High School and competing
for the King Marlin Swim Club…As a freshman in high school placed 10th in the
medley relay at state and 7th in the 400-yard freestyle relay at state with his team,
individually placed 7th at state in the 200-yard individual medley and 6th at state in the
100-yard backstroke earning All-City second team honors…As a sophomore in high
school placed 7th in the state, 4th in the medley at state, and 6th in the
400-yard freestyle relay at state with his team, individually placed 5th at state in the
200-yard individual medley and 3rd at state in the 100-yard backstroke earning him the
Tulsa World Swimmer of the Year honorable mention, the Oklahoma-USA Today Metro
Sports Award Swimmer of the Year nominee, and made the All-City first team…As a
junior in high school earned a 4th-overall boys state finish with his team, individually
was the state champion in the 200-yard individual medley, the state runner-up in the
100-yard backstroke, qualified for the summer Junior Nationals and was the school
record holder in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, and the 100-yard
backstroke, earned All-City first team honors in the 200-yard individual medley (The
Oklahoman), USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors, All World First Team (Tulsa
World) honors in the 100-yard backstroke, Oklahoma-USA Today Metro Sports Award
Swimmer of the Year nominee in the 2025, and made the All-City first team.

Elias Mendez was born on 04/01/2008 in Stillwater, Okla….Son of Jesse and Jeanette
Mendez…Has one sister, Gwendolyn…Gwendolyn is a sophomore swimmer at St Peter’s
University…Majoring in Finance.
Mendez joins the Bears after graduating from Stillwater High School and competing
