Background
Nguyen joins the Bears after graduating from Fayetteville High School and competing
for the Northwest Arkansas Aquatics Sharks…As a freshman in high school he broke
the 400-yard freestyle relay team record with his team, individually he broke the
100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard freestyle team records and placed 2nd in the
100-yard breaststroke at conference and 3rd in the 200-yard individual medley at
conference…As a sophomore in high school he earned 2nd place overall at conference with
his team and broke the 400-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard medley, and 200-yard freestyle
team records, individually he broke the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard freestyle, and
200-yard individual medley team records and earned recognition as a Top 10 swimmer in
the State - Arkansas All-Preps, placed 1st in the 100-yard breaststroke at conference
1st in the 100-yard breaststroke at state, 2nd in the 200-yard individual medley at
conference, and 3rd in the 200-yard individual medley at state…As a junior in high
school placed 2nd overall at conference, 3rd overall at state, and broke the 200-yard
medley and 400-yard freestyle team records with his team, individually broke the
100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley team records, and was recognized
as a Top 10 swimmer in the state - Arkansas All-Preps, placed 1st in the 100-yard
breaststroke at state, 2nd at the 200-yard individual medley at conference and 2nd in the
200-yard individual medley at state…As a senior in high school he broke the 200-yard
