DES MOINES, Iowa – Madison Meredith took second place in the 100-meter dash finals to highlight Missouri State track and field's final day at the Drake Relays here Saturday afternoon.
Â
Meredith, who added another runner-up performance for the weekend after she came in second in the 200-meter dash yesterday, edged out a string of North Carolina A&T runners at the final lean and clocked her time at 11.47. The Aggies took four of the top-five spots with Symone Darius winning the event.
Â
In the 4x100-meter relay, the MSU team consisting of Meredith,
Nakaja Weaver,
Timeka Jordan and
Calandra Henry combined to record a relay time of 46.38 and finished sixth.
Â
With three competitors going in the javelin for the Bears,
Rochelle Etienne paced assistant coach
Jake Brydson's throwing group as she registered a personal-best mark of 44.58 meters. The throw earned Etienne third place and landed her third on the program's all-time javelin list.Â
Â
Cheyenne White turned in a season-high performance in the javelin as well with her 43.80-meter mark finishing seventh in the event.Â
Jaide Rose was fourth in her flight and finished 12th overall with her best throw landing at 40.20 meters.Â
Â
"Rochelle (Etienne) had a great throw in the javelin to move herself even higher up on the MSU all-time leaderboard," said head coach
Jordan Fife. "Madi (Meredith) ran well against some tough competition. The times weren't as fast as we thought, but she beat some people head-to-head that have run really fast this year."
Â
Missouri State will conclude its regular-season outdoor slate at the Rock Chalk Classic on May 1 before heading to the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship on May 14-16.
