ST. LOUIS – After extending his career-best hitting streak to 10 games as part of Missouri State's 3-1 week, Bears junior
Jeremy Eierman was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league office Monday.
Eierman went 6-for-15 with a pair of home runs to help the Bears to victories over two 2017 NCAA Regional qualifiers last week. The Warsaw, Mo., native started the week by going 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and two steals to lead Missouri State's comeback win over ORU on Tuesday, then belted a two-run homer in the first inning the following day against Iowa to pave the way to an 8-3 MSU win.
Against Seton Hall, Eierman hit another first-inning homer Saturday as part of a 2-for-3 effort, in which he scored four times and reached base safely in five of his six plate appearances. In addition to slugging .867 for the week, Eierman was also perfect in 13 defensive chances at shortstop.
The honor is the fifth MVC Player of the Week award for Eierman, who was a 2017 First-Team All-MVC selection, as well as a consensus preseason first-team All-American this spring.
The Bears return home to open a five-game home stand Tuesday (March 20) with a 3 p.m. non-conference contest against Southeast Missouri at Hammons Field.
